4.0 woes

So I had an engine shop build my 258 with 4.0 head last winter. They told me they had an issue fitting the 258 intake manifold to the head, but then they got an intake from another Jeeper that had been modified to fit and assured me that it would work. Yesterday, I blew out the intake manifold gasket. I limped it to a nearby shop and they say that since the alignment pins don't line up very well that I will be blowing gaskets once a year at $600 a pop. I ran a Weber since I don't have $$ for MPI and I hope to swap to Howell TBI in the future. But I need to know how to fit this intake to the head securely. Anybody have a solution? Offset bushings or some such? An aftermarket manifold? Special gasket?

Clifford makes a manifold for using a carb on the 4.0. Runs about $280 IIRC. I have had zero issues with mine for the past 3 years. For me, it was money well spent.

It's just a Jeep, and if you don't wheel it once in a while, it's not even that.

Id say get the right intake manifold thats made for the 4.0 head for half the price of your new gasket.
