4.0 EFI, 5spd, CJ5... Possible?
Ok, tired of the carb - outdated, inefficient, pain in the *** fuel mixer. I want an EFI engine, and I want a 5spd. Is this possible? I know they say the 5spd is too long, but I also know that there are issues because of lifts and such that would complicate it and make the length a bigger issue. I am not gonna do a lift. I have a stock suspension with 31's. That is all I want. So, is it possible to get a 4.0/5spd to work? Wiring, details like that aren't an issue. Having a ds shortened or lengthened to fit, ok, I'll do it. The driveline of my CJ is all stock, so is the suspension. Figured I'd find a good donor TJ or whatever and just swap in the wiring and engine/trans/xfer. Axles if need be. Anyone ever do this? Any write-ups anywhere that I couldn't find (never have much luck with searching..) Thanks for any good info..

anything is possible with enough time, skill, and money. I would try and find a whole donor vehicle like an old XJ. this will give you an engine harness and all the engine accessories. I would Look for a 4.0 and an AX-15 or the NV3550 transmission. If you already have an I-6 then I'm pretty sure you can use your existing engine mounts. Another thing to consider is the fuel injection system runs at a much higher pressure so you'll need different fuel lines and fuel pump. Good luck if you do do this.... it would be a pretty sweet drivetrain! Strings
