360/NP435 Swap

I am buying an 86 CJ-7. I would like to swap the stock I6 for a AMC 360ci and swap the tranny (T5) for an NP435. What will this swap require?

The engine side of things is pretty easy. You need a set of V8 frame horns, motor mounts, and block mounts from a V8 CJ. OR, as I did, get a set of bombproof V8 mounts from Mountain Off Road Engineering (super beefy). Pretty sure you will need a different bellhousing for the NP435, but there is a stock one that will work. For the Tcase you will need an adapter to mate the Dana 300 to the NP435. For that, check out Novak Conversions, http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_433.htm

The t5 bellhousing will work. It will bolt up to the 360 and may bolt up to the 435. The input bearing retainer hole is the right size and the 2 lower bolt holes are in the right place. The 2 upper bolts may or may not be in the right place, I'm not sure. If they're not in the right place, you can just drill new holes where they need to be. I think the bellhousing is supposed to have dimples in the right place to drill. If not, just line it up with the transmission.

Besides the motor mount stuff you will either need a V8 CJ exhaust manifold for the driver side or a pair of aftermarket CJ headers.

You also have to extend a couple wires for the distributor, as the V8 has the distributor at the front while the 258 was in the middle.
