304 Timing cover crack?
I am rebuilding a 79 304. The stock timing cover has a crack in it. It has been patched poorly. Is it worth replacing when they are going new for $250+? Or can I run a patched timing cover without worry?

Definitely get a new cover. It will give you more oil pressure too, since the oil pump relies on the aluminum housing tolerance being within spec.

Get one out of a salvage yard from an old Wagoneer 360. It would be much cheaper than a brand new one.
