304 tick!!!

Hey guys my 304 is ticking. Cold, warm dosent matter. Seems to be coming from the passenger side intake/carb area. I thought it may of been the choke tube gasket. I replaced that but no dice. Any ideas?

Lifters? I hve one that sticks and it makes a loud tick all of the time. but until I remove the intake in the rockers and rep.lace it, you will still be hearing it. it sucks trust me I know.

Get along screw driver and and hold the metal end near the pinging. Hold the plastic handle next to your ear and it will allow you to narrow it done to a specific area. Some times a leaking exhaust gasket will cause a similar sound. Be careful of rotating components while doing this.

Maybe pop the psgr. side valve cover. Check to see if any of the rocker arms are discolored. As said above could be a sticky lifter. you want to make sure all of the rockers are getting oil.If you find a dry rocker you will need to look further into it. probably time for some new lifters.

Lifter sticking? See if you can get a can of Hydra Valve Clean by Siloo. You may be amazed.
