Thanks guys..the other day I picked up this fuel rail with some like new Python injectors out of the boneyard for real cheap. I didn't test them yet, but in case they don't work, I still have the ones that came with the motor. I might paint the rail since some of the chrome is pitted.

Yea no kidding..I actually may hold off on pulling the old 258 out until spring..that way I have my Jeep for some fun in the snow this winter..I will have the whole winter to get the Ford 302 dialed in and possibly another T176 that I will rebuild and ready for the swap in the spring.

Yea I just don't want to put this motor together all greasy, its not hard cleaning up these parts in the parts washer, then spraying them up. Powdercoating them would be real nice..I painted up the bracket for the PS pump and pulley and the bracket for the coil.

Sorry Hack- she's on the DL. Got like 17 holes in the radiator. Gonna go ahead and get a V8 one- jeep of course. Then get some hoses from Summit or something. Then all the fuel vapor rollover crap I left on the old tub. Oops.

Hit up a swapmeet this past weekend and got some good deals.

Picked up this smog pump eliminator bracket/pulley and AC eliminator bracket and pulley both for $30. I won't be using the AC one b/c I will be running AC in the Jeep...

...so I picked up this new compressor for $50

Also picked up a brand new tensioner for $10 without the pulley, so I just threw my old one on there.

I also picked up a harness out of a '92 GT 5.0 with the injector harness for $60. I started to label some of the connectors.

Got these covers there for $45, Im going to paint them blue between the ribs like I did the upper intake.

Looks like that trip was well worth the effort. More to paint now.

Yep more to paint..but I like painting anyway Yea I love the swap meets, this one was at Englishtown Raceway Park in NJ, they have a huge swap meet in April & September. They have a ton of SB Ford stuff especially Mustang stuff. I also got the correct fuel rail for my engine for $5 at the end of the day. And I got this 5.0 emblem for another $5..I was thinking of eventually putting it on the back right corner of the Jeep, you know where the 4.0 HO YJ decals are, what do you guys think?

You got some great stuff! I've never been to a swap meet. We don't have anything like that aorund here. I'm jealous!

Looking good, careful with the new injectors though, when I put the 5.0 in my '80 CJ-5 I swapped in some Venom Injectors(cant remember the poundage,,21 maybe) because the factory ones were shot and they were cheap (bought from a gear-head neighbor),,ran WAYYY too rich, wound up selling them and replacing them with stock.

I used a harness fron "The Detail ZOne", didnt have the patience to try making a go of the factory harness that came out of the donor.

For those considering this swap in the future I have also found that the bellhousing/flywheel combo need to be from compatable span of years,,since ford starters index/mount off the bell not the block if they are not compatable the starter will not engage the flywheel teeth.

Also, a Jeep CJ radaiator for a 304 V-8 has the inlet & outlet in the right places to match up with the SBF motor, I got a good deal on a factory HD 4-row,,easy 10 minute bolt-in! ,hope this helps.

And dont get too bummed if it doesnt want to run well right off, I still wound up swapping in a manual fuel pressure regulator and am still taking it into the shop to get the computer tweaked. Im still looking for a low-end torque maker of a cam, I rarely get it over 3200 rpm.

However,,once in it is a great engine in a Jeep, you'll love it!! Looking great!!!!!!

Picked up those 5.0 emblems several weeks for notta at the JY from a 88 mustang. The JY owner is a jeep guy and pretty cool. I'm thinking of putting them above the JEEP on the front fenders.

Swap meets and the weekend garage sales are sources of parts or just stuff. I look at everything for some possibility of use.
