258 EFI Upgrade - what parts?

I've read alot on this, but there seams to be some missing information out there.

What I want to do is convert my 258 to EFI. I don't want to spend the money for the Mopar MPFI kit, but I want multi port.

I'm thinking of running the Hesco Cylinder head. Just thinking at the moment.

What years of 4.0 EFI gives me the most adjustability? I plan on running a torque cam when I rebuild the 6, aiming for off idle to 3000 rpm torgue increase. I know this isn't an issue with a carbed setup. Which fuel injection setup do I need to use and what makes it adjustable for the engine mods?

I'm fairly versed in getting EFI to work correctly. Getting the right size injectors, adjusting fuel rail pressures, tweaking timing and such. I just don't know what is adjustable on the Jeep EFI units to make it work on a mod'd engine. I'm used to GM TBI and TPI systems. Is there software out there to program ECM's? Can it all be done with fuel rail pressure/injector size?

More questions will come once this heads somewhere.

I appreciate the help in advance,
Brian
