232 interchange with 258?
I am still witing for snow to melt so I can find my jeep, but in the meantime I am trying to gather info. My main priority is frame, suspension, body in that order. I also have issues with the engine. I need an exhaust manifold as mine is broken in half. I want to upgrade the distributor, and the intake manifold as well. my question is this: will any of these things interchange between the 232 and the 258? I am eventually going to swap it out for a small block Ford but don't think funds will allow at this time and I want to get out camping at least once before summer is over.

I had a 232 in a 79 CJ-7. I think the intake will be interchangeable as well as the exhaust manifold. I bought the thing used and thought it was a 258 for years until a crank bearing went, the shop didn't realize it until they put the crank in and found the journals were to big.

I did the same swap but went with the 4.0 head. Not sure of the intake will work but I think most later 258's had a 2 barrel carb. the motor is a straight drop in and will bolt up to your t-150

Stupid question. How do you know the difference? It would be nice to know what I have in there.
