1st and second gear screech

My 74 cj5 has developed a screech in first and second gear, with second being the worst. It islea fine but as soon as i apply any gas it happens. Third is still good. Thoughts???

^^^ Agree

Check the PLAY of your belt. It is most likely loose or worn. Remember, weather conditions cause fluctuation. It should have between 1/4" - 1/2" play, no more. If the belt is still good, tightening it will make your Jeep happier!
