1st post re dana 44s

first things first. sorry there is no sig yet. I just bought an 81 cj7
for $1000.00. Its in excellent condition for the money I paid and have two questions as I enter the Jeep world! The seller said it had a Dana 44 rear axle, but as I read some of your posts Im thinking this isnt right or am I wrong and it could. How do I check?
Secondly how much of a lift will I need to clear 33x12.5's??
Thanks for the help I'll get on the sig by my next post!!!

Click on this Diff ID to find out what diff you have.

As far as lift, 4" will clear the 33" tires. Actually, I have a sliiiiiiiight bit of rubbing on the rear of the rear fender wells. But I've heard this is to be expected.

Yup you will need at least 4 and maybe a 1in body lift, if you run a swamper.
