1986 Jeep CJ7 rear dana 44 axle

I have a question regarding the dana 44 rears used in the 86 CJ7. I am setting out to do a SOA suspension conversion with a traction (ladder) bar for the rear. How prone is the axle to having the tubes spin in the center housing (pumpkin)? I was told I should put an axle truss on or weld the tubes to the housing, but am wondering if it is really necessary. What do you guys think, to weld or not to weld?
