I heared you need a special kit to mount a poly body on to your frame for extra strength. For my CJ5 I've got a poly body with plywood reinforcements. I am planning on making a bushing with steel plates of 4 inches on the inside and outside of the body. What is advised with your body?

I'm not sure what is advised with mine, I got it used from guy on Craigslist. I know the 4WD Hardware bodies use a special system between the 2nd and 3rd body mounts. This is is much heavier at all mounting points, my plan it to just drill holes as needed and use the factory locations

OK, big progress weekend. I did a little research and most people say not to sand metallic paints. I picked up a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate Polish and went to town on the whole body. I probably should have used something a little coarser, I don't feel like this did any cutting at all. It looks nice though, so that's good enough for me.
Remember, I'm building a trail rig, not a show rig. The paint will end up scratched at some point, there is no way to avoid it.

I finished fixing a couple of runs Friday night, Saturday I did two coats of polish over the whole Jeep and then taped it off to spray bedliner on sunday.

Sunday I vacuumed out any dust and loose crap inside the tub and sprayed UPOL Raptor. This stuff turned out great!

I sprayed my first coat at 40 psi, but I wanted a little more texture, so I sprayed the second coat at 30 psi, all pictures show the final coat, sprayed at 30 psi.
I waited about an hour to peel my tape off.

I think the raptor has been around longer.
I have seen more info and reviews on it. My dad sprayed his dump box in his truck with it about 4 years ago and it still holding up great.
Plus is costs less than monstaliner

Last night I got my roll bar painted and used some old scrap material I had laying around to build a grinder stand for my wire wheel

Crappy picture, but I got the body positioned and the fenders / grill mounted.

Not shown in picture, but I now have the front and rear body mounts done as well as the grill mounted.

Spent the last two nights working on body mounts. Last night was mainly designing the roll bar tie in point/body mount.
I didn't take any pictures, I will get some tonight, I should have that mount position finished tonight. Then I start the rear tie ins for the roll bar.

ok, last nights progress.

Got my Aluminum corners back on

Finished up the bodymount/roll bar tie in point

body side

the plan is to bolt each end of the "wings" to the roll bar, sandwiching the body in between them.
The center hole is drilled up through the body and through the roll bar and will use a 1/2" bolt to attach the roll bar/body to the frame side mount.

also worked on putting lights back in the grille. It's actually starting to look like a Jeep again!

I'll have the grille done on Saturday with the radiator mounted, I need to figure out something to use as a screen to hide the electric fans , but I want it behind the grille slots.

I like the way you sandwich the body between the rollbar and the bodymount. I think I steel your idea!

Be my guest, I forgot to take a picture of the top side, I will get that tonight.
I used a 1/2" bolt and custom cut 3/16" thick washers for all body mount locations
