Laid down my primer on the tub last night. I am finally starting to get a pretty good feel for this gun ( Borrowed Devilbiss Finishline 3)

Friday night I laid down 3 coats of Ultra Silver Metallic in the makeshift paint booth. I'm really happy with the way it's turning out so far.
I have a couple of sags to sand out and a few bugs that landed on the paint before it hardened.
I am planning on sanding it down tonight and spraying one more coat tomorrow before it gets dark out, so I don't get any bugs in the paint.

Looking good. Hope to do paint someday myself. Is that BC/CC? or Single Stage and did you use self etching primer or epoxy?

Single Stage - etching primer on the steel parts, and Nason Acrylic Primer/surfacer on top of that. The Fiberglass just gut the primer/surfacer.

All paint and prep supplies come from my Local Carquest. Color is PPG Omni 4023 - meant to match my old car - Silver 2003 Chevy Cavalier

At first I was like, "whaddu deep south red neck" then I was like "that grass is too green to be southern" then I was like "hey I've seen that type of weed before".

So what's the consensus on the metallic silver singe stage? My understanding is "what you get is what you get". Especially metallic.
Would you shoot SS again? Would you use a make shift paint booth again?

I would also like to shoot metallic in a make shift booth but am hesitant considering my experience. You make it look easy.

Well, this is my first ever paint job.

so far I am very happy with the single stage and the make-shift booth. I learned to try to get done spraying before dark, because then the bugs come out and get into your wet paint.

also, sweep the floor down real well, and wet it to help keep the dust down.

I have a couple of touch-ups to do tonight, then wet-sand and try to buff tomorrow. I hope to have some tub pictures out in the sunlight sunday, or next week so you guys can see how it really looks

I just read this morning that you can't wet sand metallic SS (but who knows). Curious to see your results. Proceed with caution and good luck. Looking forward to more pics.

I guess I need to do some reading tonight and figure out whether I'm gonna just buff it out or wetsand it. I'll let you guys know what I decide
