So after having two 1982 CJ7's in my 20s and 30's that my ex wife had me get rid of I have finally think I married someone who will accept the jeep obsession. So I got a 1983 CJ7 a few weeks ago that is in great shape physically as the PO had the body and frame completely sandblasted and redone. It does have some minor issues as any 30yo vehicle would have.
As I have two daughters in their young teens they are very much looking forward to riding around in the jeep this summer. The jeep did come with a back seat, but it is not bolted to the jeep and I am not sure if I have all of the necessary fixtures to do so or even if this is the correct back seat that came with this jeep.
Does anybody have any detailed pictures they could share as to how the back seat connects to the tub so I can see how this is supposed to work? I am a pretty visual person and should be able to figure it out if I can see what it should look like.
Thanks in advance for your help...it's good to be back in the family
I think I may be missing the seat legs possibly. Here is a picture of the bottom of the back seat that I have. It looks like there are 3 bolts coming out of the back end of the seat and two hinges on the sides in the front. In the tub I have bolts coming from the bottom of the tub in the back where I believe the seat should rest. I think I am missing a piece to the puzzle though. First time trying to post pics so I hope this works.
I have an 83 as well. Two bolts in the front and one in the back holding a bracket in that the seat snaps to. Sorry, I don't have a picture of the back but is you look close, you can see the holes in the pic without the seat. This seat tumbles forward and was purchased by PO so I'm not sure if it will match the stock setup but I would have to believe that the bolt holes in the tub are original. Hope this helps. Rob
Thanks robs7 that is helpful. I am missing those legs in the front for sure and probably the back bracket. Any idea where I can get those parts?
Ebay maybe? Maybe a member on here as well? The front two "L" shaped feet would not be hard to fabricate and I could get you some dimensions if you go that route. The spring loaded handle in the back that releases the seat forward may be a different story. Although you could just make it stationary and fab a bracket for that as well. Rob
Where are you located? I think I have a set of front legs and the wheel well latch. I can check when I get home next week.
