No. the VIN won't tell you anything about trim packages.

Google "CJ vin decoder" to see what it will tell you.

Never heard of one of these till this past weekend my neighbor has one that he bought new in 82. I knew he had a CJ I was busting his chops about buying it hoping I could get a deal on a garage kept 1 owner CJ unfortunatly he is not selling he uses it to plow his small paved drive way. If I get over to his place I will snap some pics of it.

My 83' Limited actually had cruise control along with all the other options ... Older restoration from the PO and have found most of what was missing hunting parts in various places

Somewhere I posted a fairly complete list of all of the options that the Limited models had, some have said they made them from '82-'84 but what I have read only said '82 and '83 with production numbers totally around 2500 for both years combined.

I owned an '84 Limited and purchased it brand new off the dealers lot, so yes, there were '84 Limiteds.

That would be cool because I haven't seen a picture of one anywhere nor any official references to one in '84, but then it wouldn't be the first time for such a thing. Do you have pics?

I have pictures but they are buried in a box somewhere. I sold it to a friend in 1990 after graduating from college. I was still in high school when it was purchased and yes, it was all my money. I saved for a long time to buy it.

Hey CSP,

How much extra $$ did they gig you for the pile of add-ons they put on a Limited?

Matt

I could dig out the sticker and see, but honestly it's been so long I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.

That was by far the biggest POS I've ever owned. The transmission was junk (t5), the plastic valve cover constantly leaked, and the BBD carb was a royal pain.

I didn't have the internet to turn to for things like the Nutter mod, so I was on my own to figure those things out. It was a great day when my buddy told me I should sell it to him. I bought a used '78 CJ7 at that point and swapped a 360 into it.
