1981 Jeep CJ7 ...... plan change!!!

Well , my 82 CJ7 got to the point I had it mechanically sound and driving well .... it just needed a lot of tub repair or a tub swap. A local father and son wanted a project for when he turns 16 in a year and a half so I let Rustful Dead go to a new home.

I have found 2 projects to keep me busy though!

More updates as I get some progress .... still in school full time, but I should have a break this summer to sweat it out and make some progress!

The body and frame are solid and this is going to be built to run as a daily driver/trail rig and will eventually get fully restored.

As soon as it is up and running though you will get to see why Rustful Dead really found a new home!

Since I like naming my jeeps please feel free to suggest some for this one!

It will be running a crate 304/TF999/Dana 300 and I'm currently assembling the 304 and reconditioning the donor brackets and mounts I found for it.

Should be 4" lift on 33's .... I'm thinking of calling this one Beast. The guys I bought the TUB/Frame from were going to make a rock crawler out of it

Thanks!
Paul

Nice!

I'd get after that windshield frame, while it's still salvageable.

Been slowly making progress between back episodes. Sorry I haven't been on much to post .... life is hectic and I graduate this semester. I'm trying to have her on the road before graduation. I used the MORE steering box brace up front with the H1 box. I built the drag link and tie rod for the Scout 44's with 1 ton ends, I wish I had used heims.... but money dictates sometimes. The outboard kit and front bumper is Daves Customs and I'm working on my dual battery set up now. It's getting really close to being fired up. 304 Crate motor, TF999 and Dana300. I also tried to use a set of pacesetter headers, but had to pull them off because of a conflict on the drivers side with the TF999/Lokar shifter bracket. I just redid a set of factory manifolds to eliminate that issue. I also did 4 wheel disc brake conversion on the Scout 44's, went with 4.10s and Yukon DuraGrip in rear and Spartan in the front.

I'll try to post more as I make progress

oh yeah .... I swapped the lever doors on it for paddle handles. The lever doors were in really good shape, but I want to be able to run half doors in the summer. I will also be running a hard top with a roof rack ... it's getting it's own refurbishment soon.
