1979 CJ5 Silver Anniversary Edition

Owner of a limited edition Cj5 (purchased from the original owner). Son is wanting to put into Highschool car show and I would like to have some information about the vehicle. I have owned in since 1985 but have never researched how many were actually produced in 1979. It is not completely original ..but does have the original body, engine (107,000 miles), drive train, as well as the original paperwork/manuals and the emblem on the glove compartment (1954-1979). Would like to find original pictures as from the factory and how many are still registered with the various DMV's. Any information, or where to find it would be helpful.

Never heard of a "silver edition" cj5. BTW cj5's were made from 1955-1983 not 1954, so 25+1955=1980. I would imagine that what has happened here is it was a dealer option or package, much like the BigFoot edition jeeps you see now. Now I could be wrong but i've never heard of Silver Edition in 79 from the factory. I'll try and do some research on it.
later

Well I don't know the exact details of the production of the model, but I do know that even the forum (JJORUNAL.NET) in the Jeep Technical/History section makes mention of the Jeep in 1978. There is a special emblem on the glove compartment that says "Silver Anniversary Edition" 1954-1979. It came with a tachomoter and clock as well as a LEVI package top & seat combination from the factory. The jeep is painted Silver and has the trademark decals of a RENEGADE. All decals are black and/or silver (light reflective/sensitive at night). I am quite sure this is a special production model, just like the golden eagle, or laredo. I have photos of the Jeep and can send them if you would like to see.

There was a 1979 CJ-5 Silver Anniversary Edition. I don't remember what numbers were made, but they typically had the 304 V8, a T-150 3-spd, and usually had the clock and tach on the dash.

I don't remember all the history on the option, but it does exist and is valid.

Patrick R. Foster's book titled The Story of Jeep 2nd Edition mentions the Silver Anniversay Edition CJ-5 to celebrate the 25'th Anniversary. It does not give much information at all but I did find a rendering of the Jeep in the back of the book. I will try to scan it and post it tomorrow.

The rendering looks the same as the add in the link above.

Here is an original add for the Silver Anniversary. From what I have found there were only about 1000 made.
