I just picked a '78 CJ7. Unfortunately I was just informed that the person I bought it from "put a CJ7 body on a CJ5 frame"...is that possible?
It appears I'm missing quite a bit...ie, the fuel vapor canister, check valves, firewall grommets, half of the a/c is missing, there are vac lines tied in a knot & plugged with a screw, non-existent vac lines, windshield washer jets & thats just off the top of my head.
Does anyone know where I can get any of what I mentioned, or a parts manual & maybe some pictures from under the hood of a similar year & engine?

lol Those missing parts remind me of my jeep, its missing the same things, Im not sure where you can get those parts. but i dont think a cj7 will go onto a cj5 frame.

It is not possible unless there has been some serious fabrication. The CJ7 wheel base is longer.
Quadratec of 4wd Hardware are good sources for Jeep parts. The FSM is here on JF, which has all the parts.

yep- post up a few pics of what you've got, and we can help you.
a more common (but still not too COMMON) swap is a CJ5 tub on a CJ7 frame (for extended wheelbase)

Thanks, all of you...I'm a complete newb when it comes to forums, this is my first.
jatepper, you mentioned FSM, now I figured that JF is jeep forum, but what's FSM?
I'll have pictures up by 8pm tonight EST.
Also, are all fuel vapor canisters the same?....can I use one of of a later year? I cannot, for the life of me, find one for a 1978 CJ7.

FSM = Field Service Manual. These things will all become second nature to you once you've fully submersed yourself in your new project.

Awesome, thanks again...LOL, the deeper I delve into it, it's definitely starting to look like a project. I was hoping to drive it sometime this year tho, . jatepper mentioned that the FSM was available here? Does that mean I can view it thru jeep forum?
