1977 Jeep Levi Edition

I am buying a 1977 Jeep CJ7 Levi Edition. Can anyone tell me how rare of a jeep this and what makes it a Levi Edition?? I'm new to the jeep world and would appreciate any input. Thanks

The levi edition was introduced in 1975 and was a standard renegade package on the cj5 and later in 1976 on the cj7. it was also available as an option on the standard model, was available in two colors blue and tan. they had levis denim seats and soft top and doors complete with the copper rivits and buttons, there was also an orange levis decal on the sides just above the jeep badge in front of the doors. it was offered until 1979 i believe.(i had a 1978 and a 1979 both with quadratrac and auto trans)
It's not a rare jeep as far as production but i havent seen many lately, i transformed mine into a non levi jeep and everything levi is gone.

Bulletproof hit the nail right on the head. The biggest material difference from any other CJ was the seat and dashboard "denim pattern" with the buttons on the seat. That was about it, LOL. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

i too have/had a levi CJ-7 that belonged to my dad. alas, the poor jeep was so rusted through i completed a total frame-up restoration and finding the OEM 'blue denim' is practically impossible (dash, soft top, and seats). much like Bulletproof everything has been swapped out non-levi. no biggy.

I had a 78 cj-7 levi blue denim version. I sold the dash pad to a guy for 500 dollars. And that was 12 years ago. It looked like it was right off the factory floor.

AMC had Levi-editions in several models, not just CJ's and not just Jeeps. There were Levi-edition AMC Hornets, for example. I used to own a fullsize 78 Cherokee with the Levi interior. I would rate the option in the "common" to "moderately common" category, in other words, not rare at all. And remember, rare does not always equate to valuable.

The production numbers were large in the levis edition in cj's as well as others.... but you show me a cj with original levis interior and that jeep is worth something. That material just did not hold up well with the abuse cj's got. Plus most of that material is over 30 years old with no reproduction material of any kind. I'm not just saying that because I own one. I'm always looking for old levi stuff. Extremely hard to track down. Just like anything else that is not produced anymore the value goes up not down.

I believe the Levis package ended in 1978. I have both a 1978 Levis edition and a 1979 Denim edition, the difference being that the buttons on the 1978 say "Levis" and the buttons on the 1979 are blank. Additionally, I have the sales brochures for both years and the 1978 refers to the Levis package, but the 1979 does not...it refers to a Denim package.

I have a 1976 CJ5 Renegade Levis edition. These jeeps are EXTREMELY rare! You can't ever find these jeep especially in GOOD original condition. The Levis was introduced to Jeep in 1975 yes you are right. But they were standard on the Renegade packages from 75-78. The Levi's decal was also red, not orange. But sir you do have a very nice original jeep and I respect it!

Doing some homework here. If a man had 7 of the 8 original levi buttons that go on the front seats, would that make him very popular...or not.
