1976 CJ7 fuel filler question

I have a question about how the fuel filler neck on a 76 CJ7 was secured in the hole going through the body. My filler neck and cap just stick through a exterior hole in the tub and are not secured in any way. It sure looks to me like there was originally some sort of clamp that went around the neck behind the gas cap. My filler rattles like crazy because it's not secured properly.

Can anyone describe to me how it was originally secured? Bonus points for a picture, and super bonus points if I can be directed to the correct parts.

Wow, thanks for all the help John! The tab on my neck is long gone. It appears that part is extremely difficult to find, and I don't feel like converting to a late model. I guess I'll pull the part off the Jeep and fabricate and weld on a new tab. Shouldn't take too long.

I'm just not sure what direction tab goes, It might point down and not to the left like mine does.

The PO mounted mine.

The bit of metal on mine where the tab was clearly points to the middle of the tailgate, with the vent down and towards the tire. I'm guessing your first picture of the red jeep is correct.

The exploded drawing in the 1976 Factory Service Manual shows it at the bottom oriented towards 6 o'clock

I really don't know and the vent is not connected to the filler so can be positioned anywhere.

Just went outside and looked at mine, the mounting holes are in between the tailgate and the big hole, like in the pic of the red Jeep above.

Yeah, judging by how the stock hoses are pre-bent, putting the tab pointed down doesn't seem to work...
