What size tires did it have? I have the 258 I6 with 3.31 gears and 31" tires and it's no hot rod, but it's manageable. I had 33" BFG ATs on it at one time with the same gears and that was pushing it as far as driveability goes, especially when I was trying to haul my boat.
a q78-15 is roughly a 35" tire or so.

has scrambler bading all over it., right infront of the doors on the tub. unless it has been re-badged, i would say it is a scrambler
Thats not where Scrambler badging would be and you can put stickers/badges on anything. I'd suggest that you look up pictures of the models online...there's a Scrambler only forum at www.cj-8.com where you can find plenty of Scrambler pictures. 1974 would be a CJ-6 (assuming it's a long wheelbase CJ) or a CJ-5...the 6 is a stretched 5. The Scrambler (model designation is a CJ-8...there are non-Scrambler CJ-8's like the Alaskan postal model and the Overlander export model) is a stretched CJ-7. If it doesn't have the same door openings as a CJ-7 or Wrangler up through the last of the TJ's (current JK is a completely different beast) then it ain't a Scrambler.
