1957 Cj 5

I just bought a 1957 Cj5 with the dauntless 225 in it. Was used for plowing jeep is in great condition for almost 50 years old. I will be posting pics.

Interesting combo. The 225 didn't come out until the early sixties, it was the replacement for Buick's aluminum V8.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure I read over on the EarlyCJ5 forums that the JEEPs didn't get them 'til '66. I was looking at a '65 that had a 225 swapped in.

The first 225's were aftermarket. Warn built on its name with a swap-kit...they even offered an out-the-door conversion. The Jeep people were so intrigued they went to Warn's shops to see the installation; they were impressed and began engineering a factory option.

A few years later when Buick phased out the 225, Jeep liked the engine so much they bought the entire line...until AMC sold it back to GM in 1976 (discontinued use in 1971).

The history of this rig would be interesting. Was this a Warn conversion? What year was the engine?
