I'll start by saying this will be a slow process. My plans are to restore the 1953 CJ-3B back to the factory look. I've been searching CL for a while now looking for a 3B. For some reason they are my favorite Model. I like the High Hood & Willys stamped on the Grill. Heres what I found. I went after the 3B but the guys wanted rid of both so I made an offer on the 2A and he took it. The 3B will be dubbed "Ray" after my Grandpa. I already have a 71 CJ5 named "Dorothy" after my grandma (see build thread for story)http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/1971-cj5-dorothy-1122276/
and the 2A gets the name of "Maude". When I took the 2A my thoughts were to sell it for a quick profit, but my oldest Daughter likes it..... I guess will see. After a 5hr road trip I'm home and time to unload.
Ray is in the Garage. The engine has been ran recently; It has a newer battery, fresh looking oil and the voltage regular looks new. So the first order of business is the make sure the engine will fire off before I strip the tub off the frame. Seats out and Hood off.
Lights work, Maggie and my youngest helped today. I tinkered with the engine for a few hours trying to get it too start all I got was a back fire..... So I moved on to fender and tub removal.
Fender off, Steering Wheel off, and all but 2 body mount bolts out. They will need a saw-zall. Maybe the tub can come off in the next couple of days if I can get some help.
The problem with someday is they are harder to find in any kind of decent shape. Most of the ones I have seen look like the 2A I got and are really in bad shape. You could always find one now and just set on it for later.
