Nice build...my Uncle has one similar to yours. It has never been restored and is still used around the farm and for trips into town:

Excellent thread and awesome job. I love seeing restorations taken all the way down to the nub, well worth it. So long of a process but so rewarding at the end. Anyway, new to here but wanted some advice. Have found a mid fifties flatfender pickup locally totally original except for paint, 4 wheel peel with original running gear, 6 cylinder engine. Guy wants $5,500.00 for it. I would like some input from you guys about the price. I've seen some partially restored ones on line in the 6-8,000 dollar range with small blocks and auto conversions in them but like I said this is all stock.

I just read this whole thing and all I can say is WOW!!! It's awsome that you are doin this esp at your age. I only have 1 question. What do you plan on doing for a bed?? I noticed it didnt have one when you bought it, and that you tryin no to spend alot after the $700 bill.
CRAWLED!!!

I would have to see a picture to tell you a good price range (PM me) I wouldn't spend more than 3 grand on something like that.
TJ - triumph: I am also a "master" wood craftsman (full woodworking shop in my garage) just guess what kind of bed im going to make for it

OK I got a problem. The POR bed coating I put on the floors about a month ago shrank! But it only shrank on the passenger side. When it shrank, it pulled up off the metal, causing a giant bubble per-say to form. I had to cut the bubble out and leave only the stuff that stuck to the metal well enough to not pull up. I have found that the metal under where the bubble was - I forgot to roughen up with sandpaper. Also, it did not stick to the sound deadening pads, because I also forgot to scratch those up as well.
Now, I need to buy some more bed coating and reapply it. I think I will just buy some dupli-color type, in teh rattle can and do it that way. Though it won't look right, im not spending another $200 on POR bed coating. bedsides im putting rubber mats in it eventually, only nosy people will look under the mats.

I havn't been working on the project that much, mostly due to the holidays, and friends, and partys, and so on and so forth. However, when I had a little spare time I worked on teh master cylinder leak. I replaced the old washers with new ones, used permatex on all the threads and it still leaks! However not as bad as it did before. It is also VERY cold in my shop...I have begun also to put plastic up on the rafters...15 feet up....scarry job, and very slow job but maybe then it will be a little bit warmer...
Oh and the major "uh-oh" is that on the passenger side floor pan, the bed lining pealed up I know what happened too...I forgot to take some 60 grit over the metal. But I contacted POR company, explained my problem, and they are sending me a can free of charge anyway
oh and coppercj, the sound damp mat is going to work great, thanks again

That sucks on the bedliner stuff coming up, but it's good they're sending you a free can. I'm sure that stuff doesn't come cheap.

This is a great build thread! The truck has come a long way since you first got it. You kinda remind me of myself when I was younger, I built my first car when I was 14 71 ford torino. But I had no idea wat I was doing just bought a book and jumped into it. Keep up the good work!! Crawled

You should fab some dually wheels for the rear since you have 6 of them. That would be cool!
