$1200 CJ7 PO said Transmission needed to be rebuilt
Governor gear from a TH400
Just wanted to thank all on JF for saving me several hunder $$$.
Found a bone stock CJ7, V8, TH400, QT, 32000 original miles.
PO wanted $1200, said transmission needed to be rebuilt, would not shift out of first gear. He had gotten fed up and it had been sitting in his barn for 2 years.
Did some research, and had been looking for a replacement for my 5.
Talked him down to $800, winched on trailer to get home.
New battery, and this $20 part and about an hour( most of which was cleaning the tranny)
I have a fully functional 1976 CJ7
R.E 4.5 and 33's going on this weekend

Glad you saved another one from rusting away in the corner of a barn or some field!
Glad you saved money too!
You are going to need it when you go wheeling for the stuff YOU BREAK!

Got my R.E. 4.5 installed over the weekend.
They sent me wrong front brake lines. Having some made that will work witht he drum brakes.
Keeping the others, for disc conversion which is coming next.
Turned out well IMHO.

oh boy.. look at that rear driveshaft angle. that brings back all kinds of memories with the quadratrac. 4" is about the limit with that short drivehaft. I ha 6" and ended up swaping the t case and rear end to dana 20 and ac 20 setup
