I just bought one of these (4 cylinder, 9AT, Trail Hawk, GPS and removable roof). We have only had it for about 10 days, but it is a great car to drive and gets much better mileage than our previous 6 cylinder Liberty. Only drawback is that its towing capacity is only 2000 pounds, but that is great for a 4. Off road seems to be just fine.

We just bought a 2016 left-over Renegade Trailhawk and we love it. There is no reason to get a 6 banger in this vehicle. The four cylinder engine wont break any speed records but its just fine for us and we love the gas mileage.

For reference, the Renegade isn't offered with a v6.

Just gunna add more to the Renegade love here.
I have a TJ and my wife has a Renegade sport 1.4L 4x4. We've had the Renegade for over a year with zero problems. Gets great MPG, comfortable on long treks, and can take you places other 30 mpg+ cars can't go. I used to have a commuter car and my TJ and I would say the Renegade was my two cars combined into one. Haven't gone out on the sand yet, but that handling in snow was great.

I haven't driven a 2.4, so I couldn't say. But the 1.4 is plenty zippy around town. Does fine on road trips too. Got a speeding ticket the first weekend i went on a road trip in it.
