I read some of the 50+ pages on this issue here, and I checked the VIN of an '07 CRD 4x4 that I'm looking to buy, and this recall is still outstanding. What's the general consensus on getting this done by the dealer or keeping it outstanding?

Don't have it done!

2008 CRD QDII, OME HD, Pintlers wheels with 265/70/17 Goodyear Silent Armour's, Jeepinbyal UCA's. 4XGuard Front guard, Side Guard, belly guard, Matrix HC. GDE ECO Tune w/ delete.

Some are saying yes, some say hell no! I'll just use the parking brake. Every owners manual for every car I've ever owned says to use it all the time anyways. No one ever does though.

No problem. Like I said, I didn't read all 52 pages, but I thought I saw someone question why someone would ignore a recall.
Either way, if the issue is that the transfer case may shift into neutral, it's a good thing I live in flat Louisiana! I'll use the parking brake.

Me myself I can fix this.. I maybe one in a million that doesn't have heartburn because I have all the factory tools to keep mine running.

But what about all these loyal customers you'll loose someday???

I thought mine was "fixed" on five different occasions.

It may (still) be fixed now, I also have a new actuator.

Until I'm in the dealership lot during business hours, though, I no longer have enough faith to try it.

Last Jeep for me. I have no problem with the quality of the build but this recall thing is just plain stupid. When you call up Chrysler and they say it has nothing to do with it go pound salt it is time to move on.

New actuator.

I've been testing my 4WD Lo weekly since the dealership replaced the actuator - it works so far.

Now for new weirdness - went around a corner yesterday with the commander and the entire dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Every warning light turned on briefly (with a ding / chime) and then went back to normal. WTF! Everything appears to be fine now, but I still plan to take it back to dealership Thursday to see if it captured a code.
