You hit the trail, the trail hits back

A 200-foot-tall giant sequoia tree fell along Sequoia National Park's main road, crushing this vehicle parked in a turnout alongside the road Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, in Sequoia National Park, Calif. The tree, believed to be approximately 1,000 years old, fell Sunday at about 5:15 p.m. along the Generals Highway, several miles east of the Giant Forest Museum, said park spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet. No one was injured but the Jeep Grand Cherokee was destroyed, Picavet said. (AP Photo/National Park Service)

What's to salvage?

For sale: 1 Canyon wheel, left rear taillight, rear bumper cover and gas door from a low mileage Jeep Grand Cherokee. Make an offer. Or will trade Canyon wheel for bus fare home.

What kind of luck does it take for that? Good luck for not being in the Jeep, but what are the chances that a 1000 year old tree would fall in that exact place that he/she parked, and in the time frame that they were there.

sorry, my brain works oddly...

what the story doesn't tell you is the Jeep was loaded with a group of Sierra club activists who had just pounded 25 steel spikes into the tree to harm logger's chain saws.

Hmm, Gentlemen...what we have here is a deisign flaw that Wileys or DC never thought about when designing Jeeps.

We need to develop over armor capable or withstanding the direct impact of a falling ancient Sequoia.

*somewhere in the dark recesses of their Layer, the Structural Design Engineering team sit about their drafting tables slide rules in hand when they all get the sudden chill that can only be associated with a fresh Harvard MBA clone spouting off ideas that make the lottery look like a guarateed win*

But in all seriousness, WHY COULDNT IT HAVE BEEN AN H2 UNDER THAT TREE!!.....oh yeah
