"Yeah, babe... I drive a Mercedes..."

So, I've never seen one of these before, but over here in London they are everywhere. It's the Mercedes A140:

First time I saw one, I started laughing. I know they look somewhat big in the pics, but they are about the size of a Honda Civic or Geo Metro. Can you imagine trying to pick up chicks with this thing?

Just not the same as what I consider a Mercedes.

unlike our fellow men across the ocean, us europeans do not feel the need to extend our malehood by the car we drive. this often gives for a a sligtly differrant choice in cars, both economicly as ecological.
may i present you a few more:

the chevy kalos.

the smart for2

the vw fox.

also worth mentioning: these and nearly any other car, van or truck offer on the europen marked has at least one diesel option, often 2 or more.

"In Belgium there are two communities. One are called Walloons and they speak French, the others are called Flemings and they speak a kind of low Dutch. They can't live together. After the war, we should make two states, one known as Walloonia and one as Flamingia, and we should amalgamate Luxembourg with Flamingia. What do you say to that?"

Speaking of VW - have you seen the new EOS? That's a great little car, wish it was RWD though. Very clever roof on it.

So is that why it's so hard to find a real man in Europe?

Try parking/driving overhere in a full-size car, you'll regret you ever bought one...

Seriously, you've seen the gasprices in Europe in serveral topics.
DC had to act on it and did a great job with the A class.

It is a new direction, that started with the Smart. The A class and shortly the B class:

Can't say I love the way they look but if gas was 5 or 6 bucks a gallon I'd be in an econobox too. Wait 4 or 5 years and gas now will seem cheap, and cars like those will be a necessity and probably hybrids too.

Who wrote the law that says if you drive a car that gets good gas mileage it has to be as ugly as sin? Although I must say that the smart car is pretty good looking.

You've got to keep in mind that they barely even use cars over there. Those are just fancy bicycles for the rich. What they don't understand is that we drive our vehicles more than we sleep in our beds. So, we drive cars that we enjoy (and fit into).

BMW is supposed to be coming out w/ some that are lower than the 3 series probably the same class as that. If you need a small car for a comute its a good car and you get mercedes styling. If any of you have seen the smart crash test @ 55mph it shows these things can handle themselves but i wouldnt want to get hit by a lifted f250 w/ a ranch hand though.

Looks like it might be off of a Smart Car platform.

Speaking of the SmartCar - i hear DC is bringing it to the States...
