WHAT?!?!?! You have to be joking, how do they not know about their own vehicles, that's as bad as going to a Ford dealer and them not knowing what a Super Duty is.

Test drive it, tell them there is something wrong with it and you will take it for $5k under invoice just to take it off of their hands...

i test drove an 07 sahara unlimited auto, i was kinda looking at it for my dad, i am so glad i didnt like it to begin with, but i went in open minded, it had no guts to it at all, took it up to 4500 rpm merging on the highway and it was slower than my 02 w/ 3.73's and 33's
but still that dealership was so dumb, then the lady when i was leaving said hey if you ever need any work done on yours come in, and i was like what? first i do all my own work and i definitely wouldnt take it some where that doesnt know jeeps

I guess car dealerships are the new McDonalds, the salespersons actually hire kids to help them sell cars based on a 400 dollars bi-weekly salary, providing that they make a quota of selling 2 cars during that period, if not they're fired on the spot, if they sell more than 4 cars during that period, they get 100 dollars more per car sold.
At least this was my experience with my blonde friend, poor her was always calling me to see if I had any people that wanted a car, she always did her 2 cars quota, once she sold 4 cars during the bi-weekly period, but couldn't sell the 5th one.
She worked there for like 4 months.
Yeah ask her anything about cars and she will give you a blank look.

I probably would of asked her if she was the Sales Manager. If she says yes, then I would have told her to her face how stupid she was and asked to talk to her boss (his phone number would work fine). If she says no, then I would have asked to talk to the Sales Manager. I would have told him what just happened and that unless he wanted me to walk out the door he better put me with someone who knows the vehicles, can answer my questions, treat me right and make me a decent deal. I would do this in a calm straight forward way (no screaming, yelling or cursing) and then work them for the best deal they can make me.

First Jeep dealership I went to it was a woman who ended up helping me. I asked her what the difference was between a Sport and an X and she said there was no difference.

WTF does anyone care if the salesperson knows as much as you do about a Jeep? Most of us here are Jeep nuts and few Jeep sales people are so it won't be that often when the salesperson will know as much as we here in JF do. Get over it by negotiating a good price and then drive it home. Few car sales people can know everything about every model in a dealership that sells a lot of different brands and types of vehicles.

seriously...?

its a matter of door count. i didnt think that was considered Tech.

a sales person at a dealership i think can be fairly expected to have a vague understanding of their vehicles, you know... by maybe seeing them every now and then visually.

A 4 door JK is a pretty unique vehicle on the lot to have no idea what the customer is asking about, or even being aware of their very existance .

No different than buying anything else, I wouldn't ask a salesman about a TV or computer part I was buying, I do my own research and know ahead of time what I want, most have no clue about what they are selling.
