would you call cops on a drunk driver?

I followed a truck home last night and the dude was wasted. I didn't call the cops but I considered it. What would you guys have done?

BTW, he was alone on a rural road, if he had kids with him I would have called.

I have, more than once. Never did any good. I followed one drunk for about 10 miles once, watching him knock down signs and running people off the road. The 911 operator told me to hang up and let them handle it. They didn't, so I called them back. She said the same thing, with the same results. I finally left the guy driving at 40 mph with one wheel on the road, one wheels off.

Was he on the shoulder, on a quad doing a wheelie? I would have called again.

I've called before and been there to fill out a witness report. I've also driven drunk before and should have gone to jail.

I was heading home the other night and was behind someone I SWORE was hammered. They were crossing the yellow lines, slowing WAY down around corners, braking hard when someone came by them going the other way..etc.

I even filmed it with my cell phone. I was just about to call the cops when we get to a red light. Driving the car (big SUV) was this TINY asian woman who could barley see over the steering wheel.

Why does this make a difference? What about the car with kids in it that he could have hit? You should have called.

I would call without even giving it a second thought. I would rather do the whole paperwork thing with the cops on it then see on the news the next day that the same guy killed a family and walked away.

Call on a DD, only if you feel safe enough to gather information on the vehicle.

Tell them:

Order of things to give:
Your location
Make
Model
Color
4dr / 2dr
License plate

Why description of vehicle first. The cops do not look at plates when looking for cars but descriptions.

After calling, stay far away as possible. Do not let him figure out your are on to him. He will start to speed and might too and one of you might cause an accident.

If you are part of accident because you were pursuing someone you are actually in more trouble than the DD.

Good luck fellow blood brother on getting them DD off the road.

Good question on any forum and you should DAM proud of youself trying to rid this world of evil..

Remember EVIL people prevail only because GOOD people do nothing - something like that. I can not rember the actual verse.

OK you have a good star in my book.
