Windows 95?

Anyone know if you can still pick this up anywhere on CD?

Spare me the details about how it runs, etc, I know all that, but need to put it in a VMWare setup to test some real old legacy software for someone.

Thanks!

Could probably download it. Unless you feel the need to pay for Windows 95...

Figuring it was old enough that MSFT would offer it as a free download I checked, no such luck. Searching for that has turned up nothing other than news that Microsoft no longer supports it.

I believe that the moment that MicroSoft takes a product off of the "supported list" it becomes public domain and can be had for free.

That was my belief as well. However if that is the case, they don't host the downloads! Must take up too much space on their servers

If you can I would use Windows 98SE vs Windows 95. It has better hardware support and less bugs than Windows 95. If your PC can run 95 it should be able to run 98SE. I'll look around and see if I can find you a copy.

It's going to be run inside a VMWare session on a very built PC running XP, so yeah, it can support 95 & 98. The software was written originally to run on DOS, which is why I'm aiming for 95, the DOS on it. But I can test both to see which runs smoother for this Application.

Yeah I don't think so. Only in a dream world.

Kind of like saying falling in a lake gets you less wet than falling in an ocean isn't it?

I think I ran across an old disc last week when I was cleaning my office, I'll look for it this weekend.

I had an old recovery CD for Windows 95 for an HP computer and was wanting to do the same thing. can it be done? I'm using Virtual PC as opposed to VMWare, currently have Windows 98 working quite well with it, <15 seconds to start up, <1s to shut down. (using the windows 98 shut down dialog!)
