where can I store it?

Being the college student I am, I am stuck in apartments, moving around every year, no driveway or even street parking long-term. My parents live in the same town as me, but have no driveway space, and evidently it is illegal to work on one's car on the street (I'd believe it in Davis), so they won't let me park a car in front of their house.

Which brings me to my point. I want to pull the trigger on a 1972 Charger, but I have nowhere to put it. The owner says it doesn't run at the moment, but if I bought it, I would get it to run after I get back from England in December. Anyone know of a place that could store it until I get back? My friends all live in apartments as well. None could house it.

And I really don't want to just wait till after college. I just really want to get into this investment now while I have surplus income. I know after college I won't have near as much. Even if I have to hold off on making it a show car, I will just get it to run. I dunno what I should do.

Do you know anyone who works at a a dealership or has their own body-repair shop?

My former brother-in-law (now deceased) had his own place, and it was big enough where he would let folks rent space real cheap to keep it stored. If you have a friend who works for a dealership of some kind, they might have room way in the back lot or something where you could keep it covered or something.

i know it costs money but any self-storage place should have covered car parking. the ones here i think are 100 bucks a month....

do you know any friends with a driveway or a garage? i dunno about leaving it there for a whole semester, but in our group of friends we always try to help each other out if someone needs a place to keep a car. i left my jeep in my friends garage for christmas break, my other friends car is in the driveway here, for another 3 weeks.

or as a joke i heard once, get a loan and have them hold that car as collateral, then pay them off when you want and get the car back and all you have to pay for the car storage is the loan %.

Get a storage unit that's big enough for the car plus tools and leave it there. Fix it, then get rid of the storage unit.

Simple? Cheap? Easy? Yes.

I'd goto a garage or a Dodge dealer and ask them for a job. Say that you'll work weekends washing cars or part time in the evenings if they'll let you keep it there.. maybe you may even get an apprenticeship.

Storage unit would be my last choice before you know it the unit has cost more to rent than the stuff in it is worth.

its 83.00 per month here. The problem is, all of my tools are at my parents' house. And I am talking, a toolbox load of tools. And I don't want to have to drive out to storage every time I want to work on my cars.

I talked with my dad today, and he still says that if it's running, he won't let it sit on the street in front of the house....

****ing hell....
