A Somali arrives in Minneapolis as a new immigrant to the United States.

He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and

says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me in this country, giving

me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and free education!"

The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am Mexican."



The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for

having such a beautiful country here in America!"

The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."



The new arrival walks further, and the next person he sees he

stops, shakes his hand and says, "Thank you for the wonderful America!"

That person puts up his hand and says, "I am from Middle East, I am

not American!"



He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an American?" She says, "No, I am from Africa! "

Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the Americans?"

The African lady checks her watch and says..."Probably at work."

Before every one gets their PC panties in a wad, every culture has been overtaken by another and the victor gets to write the history books. Well untill modern progressive liberalism took hold and the loosers can sue and litigate until they get to revise the history books to their liking.

Thing is, every one of those people named in the original joke would never say that they aren't "American". That's because they are all American. Almost all of us in this great country are not originally from here. America is a country of immigrants, and that is what makes us the best. We take people from everywhere, no matter class, no matter status, it doesn't matter. You work hard and anyone, ANYONE, can make a better life for themselves. What else do you want from a country? The chance to make a better life is the most noble idea out there.

Some don't achieve it. But some do. I don't hate the ones who don't achieve their aspirations though. Unlike some people.

Well, first of all, they would NOT say they were Americans. They would say they were African/Mexican/Italian/Chinese/etc. American. And, while we do accept immigrants, we should ONLY be accepting immigrants who come legally, and deporting every other one. The illegal immigration is what angers most of us. As a matter of fact, my opinion (you Libs go ahead and get ready to flame me) is we should put an invisible fence around America. Every immigrant who get deported gets a shock collar, so if they try to get within 1 mile of our border they get fried.

Uh. What? Ask someone who is American but with Irish decent, they will say they were Irish, same with German, English, French, whatever. So your point about these people saying they are African/Italian American is moot. Everyone does it. Everyone. The rest of your post? I really think you need to be on medication. Well now you are changing your story. In your original post you said those people in the joke would not say they weren't American. Now you are saying someone would say they weren't American, they were Irish, German, etc. Which is it? And just so you know, I ran out of medication 2 weeks ago.........

No, I said they would say they are "Irish American, German American, etc." It's not like people are denying their "Americanism". It's just that they are identifying with a subculture, beit Somali, Irish, Polish, Japanese, whatever. All of them can be American as the next one.

Check your response to my first post. You said they would say they were Irish, German, English, etc. Nowhere did you say they would say they were Irish American, German American, etc......You may have meant to imply it, but I didn't get that from it. BTW, my dad can beat up your dad.

Well I apologize then, since I took it as implied that when someone in America who has lived here a majority of their lives says that they are German, English, Korean, whatever, then it simply means that this is their family history. All of them are implied to be American.

Nitpick all you want, it's fine. It's something easy to do when on the defensive.
