ok, i suppose I'll clear this up for ya. There is no such thing as a 1996 Wrangler.

They ran the 1995YJ very late into the model year, took the plant down to retool, and started producing the 1997 TJ a little early, mid 1996 I believe.

Not really. Get all the advantages of the TJ, with the advantages of the YJ, all without the childproof headlights.

Expect this scenario to happen with Jeep again when it comes to releasing the '07. Kinda weird huh, they didn't make a '96 and probably won't make a '06.

I would have jumped all over a 04 Mystichrome Vert Cobra, if I could have found one in my area. That was even after knowing what the next model was like. I do have a friend who has one, a lot more refined than my 99 Cobra was. I had more power, but with my mods compared to hers stock, that thing is friggen awesome.

If it says '06 on the door jam, then so be it. But I still see people saying that they have a '96 wrangler. But when they check the door jam it says otherwise. You guys did realize that I said "probably", I didn't say that's what they are doing. Technically speaking how can you have an '06 when it's not even '06 yet. It's all in how they label it.

well, u can have on 06 that u buy in 05 like this:...u may buy it in 05, but what makes it the 06 model are things that arent on the 05...like for example, in 06, the wheels are very slightly different, so much so, its hard to tell at first glance

also, my dad bought his 87 wrangler in late 86 as the 87 model, and as u know, the first documented year for the YJ was 87, but you could buy it in 86

i will say, its kinda weird how auto manufactures do that, but like i said, if they make any changes for the newer year, that would be on the newer version as in an 06 wrangler in 05

also, i know what u mean, ive seen a few lable their YJs an 96's....well they are wrong..lol...that simple
