When it all goes to hell.
I am not trying to start a political thread or anything oelse for that matter I came across a few articles from a person in south america about what it is like to live in a country where everything has gone to heck. They are long reads and you may think it is stupid. We may never have a reason to even think of this but it may be of value to you someday maybe here in the states or maybe while on vacation in another country.
Like I said bit of a long read but interesting and informative. http://frugalsquirrels.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=044387;p=1 http://www.frugalsquirrels.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=009538 Enjoy

I'm sure zombies will outbreak in the next 4 years. Every form of information ties the outbreak to the cure for cancer. You know obama plans to cure cancer during his time in office.

the simple fact is that if society breaks down, all the billy badasses that think they are hot **** will probably die in the first 24-48 hours. there is ALWAYS someone with a bigger gun.
the ones who will survive will be like little mice.

Let the world get all road warrior. I am physically superior to the smart people, and smarter than most of similar athleticism. I'll be fine.
Besides, Kenworth Dump trucks make excellent gun platforms. |

There is a great book out there by Robert Heinlein called "Tunnel in the Sky" that would be a good read.

That first link was a neat read. Good find
x2 on that. I'm gonna stay quite and reserved in my little house in the country, and will openly accept wandering traders but shoot on sight any trouble makers. That plan should work well because I plan on recruiting friends to come live with me and help out gathering food and firewood. A small gang if you will. Going out and looking for trouble will only get you killed. |

It's the great debate of buggin' out vs. buggin' in.

I'll unpimp your auto...

I won't start anything, when I go out I'll take my jeep and hope I don't have to run quickly, but for my home, the quote from Watchmen fits; "None of you understand. I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me."

I'm storing my jeep for extreme emergencies or to haul as much firewood as possible until I run low on fuel. Lucky for me the old man has a horse farm about 8 miles away.

Too little time
|
I have been sent the first link by email twice in the last month. It must be popular.
It is an interesting read of course. It's not bad to have plans and supplies in any case. |
