What were you doing standing on the catwalk when they were rolling collars off the pipe rack?

Though I think he caught on pretty quick I did something from the smell of burning flesh, and the fact that I kept my hand in a bowl of ice water all evening. I still have a bad habit of grabbing hot things, and recently went to grab a pan out of the oven (I'm 20 now and still haven't learned) and burned off a couple fingerprints in the process. The best part is the next day I was supposed to be fingerprinted.

When i was in college, i used to work for the city in the parks department. One day, a co worker and I were putting up new stop signs in one of the parks. One of the posts that we had to drive into the ground and put a stop sign on had a really old and rusted nut and bolt through one of the holes and we couldn't get it off. So we took it over to the city shop to have one of the mechanics cut it off real quick for us. So me and the mechanic sat on the floor of the garage with the post and he grabs the torch and cuts off the head of the bolt and then proceeds to cut off the rest of the bolt to remove it from the hole in the post. While he was doing that I noticed a small white pebble near me on the floor and I get the bright idea to pick it up and throw it at my co worker standing there. So I grab it with my thumb and index finger and all of a sudden I hear a sizzling sound. A second later I reallize it was my finger tips frying. The "pebble" was the head of the bolt that was just cut off with the torch. I mistook it for a pebble because it was deformed and white, still white hot! Needless to say, I had no skin or feeling on my thumb and index finger tips for about a month. Oh, and I got to pee in a cup and fill out an accident report!

Played footbal, baseball, basketball in HS and was never hurt. I was born with clubbed feet and had 4 surgeries before I was 18 months old, so I have pretty scarred up feet, but I've never had a MAJOR injury.

Nope, believe it or not, I wasn't on anything when I grabed a white hot piece of metal. In four summers working for the city, I averaged 1 drug test a summer for each accident.

Dumbest - 1st job as an electricians helper we were installing pipes for the risers in a 20 story building. We were drilling holes in 12 inch concrete in a fire stairwell for the pipe to fit in, using a daimond plated drill bit. The drill wedged from the floor to the ceiling, twas my job to keep pouring water on the blade to keep it from heating too much. Well the blade eventually dulled and caught forcing this huge drill to catch, it spun around and hit my right in my temple. Talk about seeing stars, knocked me out cold for a few minutes and gave me a serious concussion.

Worse - Playing Ice Hockey in a non-checking over 30 league this guy decides he's gonna take a run at me along the boards. I move the puck up not expecting to get hit, and he nails me. Nice clean hit in a checking league... Anyway, my shoulders seemed to meet in the middle of my chest somewhere, litterally. Bruised sternum, couldn't do a ****ing thing for two weeks. Couldn't lay down, could sit up, couldn't laugh, fart, sneeze, take a ****, Nothing.

removed both big toenails with a #20 bashinator. they've never grown right in the 15 years since. i have to remove a good 1/4 of each every month or it gets ingrown and infected.
half my medial meniscus is gone in my left knee from planting badly and having my weight follow through while throwing javelin.
7 staples to close a partial scalping after a endo while freeriding(no trail down the mountain). didn't even bleed like a good head wound should.
dislocated all but the thumb metacarpal in my right hand in a fight i didn't lose. broken tooth in a fight i didn't win while too drunk to stand up on my own.
dislocated wrist in another endo.
several incidents of major road rash with gravel included, worst was about 30% of my body. all from mountain biking. scrubbed and removed gravel myself.
too many major burns, cuts, and punctures to list all of them. mostly in my hands of course.
fork in a wall outlet when i was a kid.
many deep bruises to the bone on various extremeties.
couple dislocated ribs from time to time.

I had this trick I would do when with other drunk idots when I was in High School. I took am old pair of leather skating shoes, soaked them thoroughly with water, created a wet area in my yard with the hose. Then like a real genius I poured gasoline on them and lit them up. I would run around for a while and it was funny cause my legs were on fire and whatnot. people loved it nad I never got hurt. Until one day...
I had a large crowd and was ruching into things, I was too drunk and overconfident. I forgot to use water on my shoes, insisting rather to only use a wet pair of socks inside my shoes. No bueno. It was summer in Arizona, my shoes went up in flames like never before and this time it was hot! I could feel them burning. My legs were burning and I could feel the flames up my pants. I was panic striken running around my yard and I kicked off one flaming shoe into the crowd where it hit my concerned compadre. Another into some tall grass. By this time my friend had the hose on and was putting me and the shoes out. I am at a 1/9 faiure to sucess rate and have no desire to improve that score. I had huge blisters on my legs and at work my boss got the story from a friend who had seen it. Not a great day when your boss finds out you are mentally challenged. Oh yeah, it ruined the shoes that time, very other time they looked fine when it was over. I wish I had a tape, Country Fried Home Videos would have aired it.

OMG! I hear ya, that hurts so bad. Once when I has like 8 or 10 I crashed out in the mountains on my bike, I was going full speed down a gravel road with no protective gear. I still have a bunch of scars and that was like 15 years ago. I was a little kid then and of course went to the E.R. My face got it bad and my elbows and of course hands. It knocked out two baby teeth. Nothing like removing rocks frim inside wounds...ouch!

i'd need to wear hard armor or leathersto prevent most of my road rash. most of the time i end up ruining whatever clothes i happened to be wearing at the time.

i doubt either protective option would be suitable for x-c biking.

I think being so young when I hit the gravel at a good 25ish freaked me out to go too exteme now. Mostly I do moderate riding on narrow trails in the woods. I like a good downhill but nothing more than a helmet and gloves is needed. I sprain wrists when I crash half the time. I am not extreme, I like watching people who are though. I ruined the shirt I had made the day before at the fair...it ripped off my shouders. It was a cool short, I think it had an x-man on it. You know you wiped out when your clothes are destroyed.
