I had a cigarette roll on a jump when I was in the army. The paracute was giving me zero lift. I almost had my reserve deployed when it popped open. The weird thing was, muscle memory completely took over my body and mind. When I hit the ground, I was overcome by the greatest feeling of fear that I've ever experienced. I was also overcome by the greatest sense of relief, at the same time. I almost pooped a little too.

That remindsme, right before the summer I was on the ground for a big ceremony (running the martial arts demo and fighting mma). Opening act was the Canadian Military jump team jumping in. The whole thing went bad, and i mean really bad. Weather changed to a light drizzle and dead wind. The target landing was a soccer field, so fairly small target. First guy jumps, not bad slides out and gets dragged across the field. The next group came in and one guy landed about 400-500m to the side of the field over a building and within a few feet of falling into the rough lake. At this point its looking sketch. 4 guys are comming in formation and look way low and way too far for the feild. They pass over one of the buildings and I hear the bottom guy on the dimond yell "****!!! BREAK BREAK BREAK ****". obviously not a good thing to hear. Top guy clears the bleachers and just makes the feild middle 1 guy also just cleared the bleachers actually put his foot down on the railing. Other middle guy slammed into the bleachers hard and twisted an entire steel bench and the fell down. Bottom guy got it worst. He didnt think he was gonna make it so tried to drop hard so he could glide over the bleachers like everyone else had done. Only problem is he realized he wasnt gonna make it and made sharp turn and nailed the flag pole (big one with a bunch of masts) and actually snapped a 1" cable anchoring it down. Pretty crazy as all of this was happening over head and within feet of me. I was first on scene to the bleacher guy too.

Not really scary to me but watching it was just one of the classic oh **** moments. Ill see if i can dig up the video. Everyone walked away, slight concusion and lost tooth or 2 was the worst injurie.
