What would happen if they canceled the welfare system?

Discuss! Let's say effective tomorrow there is no welfare system, for anyone. What happens?

Unemployment drops to record lows. Millions of illegal immigrants return to their homeland. Tax revenues increase. The budget deficit shrinks. GDP goes up. The dollar rebounds. Gasoline prices fall.

Senior citizens who rely on social security starve. Children suffer and starve due to their irresponsible parents. Po' people nationwide riot.

Moderate increase in property crimes, large increase in infant and geriatric mortality. Small decrease in unemployment.

They should atleast put a time limit on it. I can see the need for it when someone goes through tough times, but to live your entire life on it? Then raise your kids to do the same??? Come on people, grow up.

I doubt old people would starve off not getting SS benefits as that is a retirement program, not a welfare.

It would be a dream come true to have welfare ended, this country would never be better. People would have to work for a living, what a concept.

I guess none of you think people need it

yes the people abusing it would need to find work, but the disabled would have to rely on charity/friends/family for support or they would die.

beggars everywhere
