What size tow straps?

I am contemplating the purchase of 4" 40,000 lbs or 3" 30,000 lbs tow straps for my TJ. The difference in price is negligable. I want to put at least two in the toolbox in my jeep. Do I really need 40,000 lb straps? I dont plan on pulling dumptrucks or tractors. I think the negatives for getting 40,000 lbs is the amount of pull it takes to get the elasticity working for you may be too great and will jar the two vehicles. Also the bulk of the extra inch is just more crap in the toolbox I really dont need. Anyone have any input on this subject, or actually have alot of experience with both sizes? Thanks.

40k isn't the weight of the vehicle, it is the amount of force from the pull. i would say the bigger the better. the amount of jerk that your jeep will supply through the strap will be much greater than the weight of the jeep or the vehicle being pulled (as long as it's not some HUGE semi or something). also if you need to be pulled, the guy pulling you may have a bigger rig and pull harder. i would definately get hte 4 in. if money isn't a factor

I'd get the 20" version. You can always use it to pull a space shuttle in a pinch.
