What is QUADRATRAC?

MY 1979 CHEROKEE HAS A 219 QUADRA-TRAC TRANSFER CASE AND I AM WONDERING WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS BETWEEN IT AND JUST THE REGULAR 4 WHEEL PEEL,AS IN ALL FOUR WHEELS SPINNING AT THE SAME TIME. ALSO DID CHEROKEES HAVE POSILOCK REAR ENDS IN THM IN '79?

Your 'case, as you suspect is full-time 4x4, no locking hubs, no 2 wheel drive. As a side note, the Q-trac uses a chain, whereas, most other Jeep x-cases are geared units. Usually, gears are stronger, but the Q-trac is allright, but over time the chain will stretch out.
