I use Cor-Bon PowrBall 9mm 100 gr. +P. I just bought some Speer Gold Dot hollows though, anyone know if they are any good? I got them on sale for $14 so I had to buy it.

EDIT: About the speer gold dots. Is the 115 gr good? That's what I got but I didnt know if I should have got the 124gr. Hmmm...

Preferred load is 230gr Hydra-Shok, with secondary preferences being Winchester Silvertip or Speer Gold Dot - all factory loaded. (Handloads for self-defense is a great way to get a "malicious wounding" case tacked on when you'd get freed for self-defence.)

I have experience with these loads, I trust them, and I shall continue to use them. Cor-Bon .45ACP 230gr +P JHP isn't bad, but I can get the Federals easier.

House mags have two Glasers on top of the balance in Hydra-Shok, which gives me a little room to wake up if I need it.

The SP101 is loaded with Federal .38special Hydrashocks, low recoil version.

The 1911 is loaded with Hornady .45acp +P JHP's, forget the weight.

call your local PD, carry what they carry. then if your ever in front of the DA, he can't pick at your choice of ammo.

I put Hydrashocks in the 45ACP and Tap in the 40.

however, I don't think any of it matters. This was a 45ACP tap. Dug it out of a pig. Went through his shoulder through his spine,,, did not open at all.

canadians have more guns per capita than americans. Unfortunately it's not any of the "cool" guns.

That is good advice. There was a case about ten years ago where a school teacher that was hiking in the woods and shot a crazy man. The DA did bring up the type of ammo he was carrying ("as it was meant to kill" ) and it did influence the jury, especially a soccer mom that was later interviewed.

Is it true that canada outlawed everything but pump actions and bolt action?
