This is what I do

for my final semester project, we pretty much had to do "the whole package" for a landscape design.

we have a given house, that is yet to be built, and had to do the landscape design, meet with "clients" present our design, create a full set of construction documents, and we have our final jury on wednesday. Presenting to many professors and the architect who desgned the houses, etc.

here's what I've got so far. My presentation method is a bit different, my partner and my challenge was to pretty much present without using sections, elevations, or perspectives, because "everybody does it, so you should find another way"

My whole presentation is model based, no hand rendered graphics at all.

check it out:

site plan, in model form: this will go flat on the wall and be read asthough you were looking at a site plan, in top-down view

perspective view of site plan:

perspective model 1 (no perspective renderings were allowed)

site plan model, perspective model, and a section model:

so this is what i do, when I'm not mowing lawns.

i build models and color with markers.

Marn you got skillz, seriously, I'm impressed. If you want to take a trip out here, I'll let you practice on my house.

As far as what I do, I would get shot if I come anywhere near my building with a camera. Well maybe not shot, but beaten sevearly about the head and neck.

You really want a house built out of cardboard and balsa wood?

I could have provided you with 5 years worth of cardboard and bass wood models if I hadn't just thrown them all away when I moved.

I design houses and then call people like Marn to come and make the lawn look pretty and keep it mowed.

Here is the link to the website for the firm I work for, if you care to see the houses we design.

Did you use Balsa wood to make all that? Do you do the woodworking yourself or how do you get all the different shapes? That's cool.....

That's kinda neat! Sort of in the same boat for my project.

For my final project in one of my CS classes, my partner and I have to design and present circuitry for a stopwatch. Doesn't sound exciting, but this is built from SCRATCH, so when certain blocks of the circuit finally work, it's kinda neat. Nothing like being stuck on something til 1:30AM while the janitors are cleaning the lab room, then bingo! Figure something out.

We presented our progress last week, and so far have it timed right to display x:Xx:xx which counts up, which is timed to the clock speed of whatever FPGA board we're displaying on. Also correctly designed subtracting one time from another at the push of a button, which was huge. Next we have to get Lap/Reset and Stop/Start buttons to function correctly.

I'd show some schematics, but no one would know what the hell is going on.

typical architect's response, but it's okay because L.A's make more on average, and have wayyyy more job security and oppertunity.

no worries, alotta people cant read plan view, and yeah, its monochromatic, so theres no real differentiation between concrete, wood, grass rock, etc.
