In KY once you have your CCDW it also extends to things like automatic and fixed blade knives, impact weapons, and even things like ninja stars. I believe it also DOES extend to a loaded long gun in a vehicle. I also think that you are now allowed to carry a handgun in the center console without a permit, I believe that law changed in July or so.

Yeah, I know about the knives, num chucks, etc., etc., just didn't think it was important for the handgun vs long gun discussion. I guess the CCDW could/would extend to a long gun that is concealed somewhere inside the vehicle, but my thought process was more towards the long gun hanging in a vehicle gun rack out in clear view.... in some parts of the World that act like they have never seen this. My point was in KY, in some parts seeing a long gun hanging in a pick up truck (open carry) is so common no one gives it a second thought.

Well you asked what I carry,
In town Sig 9mm. Only cause it is easy to shot, easy to reload, holds a tight pattern at 25 yards and 16 rounds per clip and I ususally have 3 clips. 48 shots should do the trick, don't you think..
In the woods S&W 357 magnum. I beleive it will stop most animals in my neck of the woods. 6 rounds and 2 speed loaders. Also makes a lot of racket when shooting, I hit a 7" pie plate at 35 yards every time. I figure I should not let anyone get any closer then that, but if they do, closer the better. easier target.

Kel -Tec PF9 (9mm)
Fits in my pocket with a pocket hoster. Thinking about getting one of the Springfield XD compacts though.

I used to carry a pocket pistol, but then I became a man.
I carry this wonder .44mag in a chest rig, under my coat, while I eat hotdogs.

Taurus Pro 24/7 SS 9MM for my everyday carry...
Simplicity, accuracy and reliability are necessary features in any defensive handgun. Go out and get your hands on some and see what feels comfortable to you. As always, go out and practice, practice and practice!

Like I said, make sure it is legal in your State.

If my grandpa was still alive, I'd ask him about that.
He taught me hundreds of tricks that cops used to do back when they carried wheel guns. He came from the days when cops looked like this...
Did NOT **** around...

Your Grandpa was probably a little too early for the Car Jacking and random shootings. Brother-n-law served from 1972 to 2002, mostly as Homicide Detective.

He retired about two years ago. 47 years in LE, he saw a lot of **** in his day.
Sucks because he barely got to enjoy his retirement, even though he didn't want to retire.

Here they can retire after 20 years..... but they really don't retire, they just change departments that they work for and "Double Dip" the retirement. Fire Department does same thing. I think that loop hole is now closed, but for the guys/gals who could do so, it was a deal too good to pass up.

I think that's exactly what he did, he started out in a small town... my home town actually. Then he went to state police, then the DOC where he retired from.
All 3 departments he was a K-9 officer, by the time he retired he was a master K-9 trainer... and holy ****, you should see his trophy wall in his garage. So many trophies, certificates, and letters of appreciation that he didn't even have enough room to display them all.
Whenever I go out to visit my grandma, I stare at that wall in confusion. I've never seen that many awards in one place before.

For really easy concealment I carry my Kel-Tec 380. It's a good "holy $h!t" gun if I ever had to use it. Not the best accuracy outside 7 yards or so and a pretty heavy trigger pull. Otherwise, I prefer to carry my Glock 19. My groupings are great with this gun. I carry 15 in the clip & 1 in the chamber. Personal carry rounds are 147 gr. JHPs - good heavy round that balisticly creates a 40like knockdown in a 9mm package.
