I've shot both. The LCR feels lighter to carry, the S&W a bit more solid in the hand. Both are punishing on your wrist (especially in .357) if you run them through an hour on at the range, but the J-frames seemed to me to have a bit less kick.
Neither are a bad choice. I ended up buying the LCR with the CT grip, but would have been just as happy with a S&W.

Looks like I'm about to go get a "summer" carry size: a Beretta PX4 in .40SW. $500 at Gander Mountain. I have a Springfield XD .45 ACP, but it's too dag gone big and heavy to carry inside my shorts
This piece leaves my pinky hanging, though, so I'll need to get some practice. I'm used to bigger guns!

Springfied Armory XD Sub Compact, short mag with no pinky extension in a CrossBreed supertuck (which I LOST somewhere, don't understand that one). Loaded with Speer Gold Dot.
Great gun, a little heavy/thick. Certainly heavier than it's Glock counterpart, but Glock's quality in recent years has gone V, so....yeah.

Got this this morning: a Beretta PX4 sub compact in .40, 10 + 1. I'm already starting to like the fact that it's only 1" bigger than my hand. I'm off Tues, so I'll take her to the range....

DO it! I LOVE my FNX. Points very quick for me and is VERY accurate. Nice shooter too. Its my EDC but unless I lose some weight, I am going to get something smaller for carry next summer. It conceals as well as any full size. It will be even better when I can wear sweatshirts again. Im too tubby for most of my clothes right now so once I drop a good 30+ lbs it will conceal better. LOL!

Both are good choices. I want to get a FN-P just because it's stamped with my town on the slide. Good reason to buy a new gun, right?

Get an FNX. Its basically an improved version of the FNP.

Its amazing how many people don't know what on of the C's stands for. I was in walmart saw a guy who must have weighed 250, either 'concealing' a 1911 in a high rise, or a toaster under his shirt. Small children were pointing out his pistol.
He would have been better off with an open carry, it would be just as hidden and slightly less awkward to draw.

The best conceal carry gun is one that is actually on you!
The lighter and smaller the better because its not a pain in the *** to carry with you...since the time you'll likely need your hand cannon that you usually carry it will be sitting on the dresser....
Remember most civilian gun fights happen within 5 Yards....thats pretty damn close....

love the look of those pistols. Does you magazine rattle when they're full? A friend has the full size model in 9mm and the rounds rattle in the magazine. Doesn't affect function though

5 yards if you're lucky. Most people will be in the poop up to their neck before they realize it. Same token, it's hard to fathom how close 5 yards is until they have an armed nutjob that close. I've had knives in bad peoples hands at less than 5 feet. Stressful
The 'ol rule of thumb, an average person can cross 24 feet in less time than it takes to draw and fire 1 round, and that's from an exposed single stage holster. If you're lifting shirts and fighting belt etc to get a pistol out, it's closer to 40 feet. That's a loooooooong ways away that trouble can be waiting for you.
Flip side of that coin, pistol in hand for no good reason is going to cause other types of trouble.
I'm exploring a couple pocket pistol options at the moment, even my sub-compacts are too big for pocket carry and in my biz environment having any form of exposed pistol isn't going to fly in the summer. I'm not a fan of pistol pocket calibers like the .380, no experience with them. But a .380 in hand(pocket) is better than my .40 at home.

Agreed
Any gun Is better than one at home
Check out some of the sub compact 9mms...I believe it was s&w that had a slim line one that was the same size as my tiny 380...same mag cap too but more expensive. Probably worth the look. I've heard s&w bodyguard series is good (this is coming from a non s&w fan FYI)
