- I like the Mach series. With the same handle, you can get any of the many blades thatll fit. Mach 3, Turbo, the little electric buzzing thing. - Make sure you get your skin warm and wet before shaving, itll cut down on the burn. - Splash cold water on your skin after shaving. itll do the same thing as aftershave, but obviously no pretty smell. You might already know these, but these are things that I figured out when I was in a very similar situation, hence my telling you.

Cheap bic disposables, replace them every 6 weeks or so. No shaving cream, just water. I've never cut myself, had razor burn, nothing. Guess I'm either lucky or tough.

It just hurts me to pay that much money for refills.

That's why I switched to an old school safety razor about 15 years ago. It takes a little practice but it gives a very close shave. Regular razor blades are dirt cheap compared to all of the new disposables.
I use my grandfather's old razor but it pretty much looks like this: http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/5416207.htm |

Mach 3
I shave face and head. I found paying the extra wasn't so bad. The blades last twice as long. I have found edge shave gel the best for me plus i shave in the shower.

I think it's worth it. I use name brand (I don't have a preference) double/butterfly blades and think they shave just as close as the high tech disposables. The blades also only run about 50 cents a piece and last just as long.

I used to be in the AF, so I know what you are going through! You can go to the dermatologist for him to recommend other techniques for pseudofolliculitis-barbae (razor burn/shaving bumps). Some techniques are; shave with the grain, not against it. Shave with cold water. Replace your blades early. I am part italian so I have a heavy beard. Any kind of disposable razor isn't going to do much more than the others. I prefer senser excel over the fusion or mach3. I like the ergonomics better. I now use the disposable Schick three blade razors and I use a brush and cake soap instead of canned shaving cream. I want to switch to a classic safety razor, but they are expensive (not the blades, just the handle).
