Weird Chevy 4.3l starting problem (have an engine code)
Hey all, I know this is not Jeep related but I'm hoping someone might have some advice for me....
I have a 1998 Chevy with a 4.3l and I’m having a slight problem with starting. Randomly the engine will not start. The weird part is later the same day it will start fine like nothing happened. The check engine light comes on afterwards for a day and then goes out.
I had the code pulled at AutoZone and they pinted out “P1351 IDM Input Circuit Malfunction” and told me to check with the dealer. About all I can find on the web is that IDM stands for Ignition Diagnostic Monitor Input Circuit.
I’ve put new cap/rotor/wires and plugs in. The truck has 120,000 miles on it. When it runs, it runs great. When it doesn’t start it turns over and I hear the fuel pump but nothing else happens. It doesn't sputter or sound like it's even trying to start.
If anyone has any tips on what I should check I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!
Rick
