Yeah, I almost couldn't stand myself when she was helping me torque the main bearings on my engine.

In 1993, the XJ finally arrived on British shores. I can recall distinctly at the time seeing one driving north on the M1 and commenting to my (then) boss; "I'd love one of those." He, being an aspirational wanker, could only consider a BMW or a Mercedes and went on to scoff and deride the vehicle of my dreams. 'Nuff said.
In 2008, after 20 years, I was uncerimoniously dumped from my "better-half", business, home and, well.... everything. Later that year, I was embroiled in a less than encouraging blind date and managed to find an apres party crash pad. Upon awakening on an unfamiliar couch, amongst the varied escapees from the "singles night" was a chap who proudly showed me his XJ that he had appropriated for the princely sum of £25.00 *pauses whilst everyone Googles exchange rates* I was not in the bit slightest envious. No. Not at all. In late 2009, I finally went on a (successful) date. Since this date was within walking distance from my excruciatingly miniscule rented accomodation, I left my then cheap "euro-blob" car at home. She drove to the meeting point. At then end of the date, she invited me to drive her home and tossed me the keys to her Grand Cherokee. 2 weeks later I got my '93 XJ and we are deliriously happy together. ![]() And I still love my XJ. ![]() ![]() Jeeps and the right lady are..... mmmmmmmmmm
