"True" cute story-the Automatic Jeep wave

You gotta here this. Told my wife a month ago I have to get a Wrangler again. Had one before marriage and had to get rid of it with 3 kids now. So anyway, went out last month and bought a 2001 TJ. Went to go to a hockey game the other night and told the wife, "Let's take the Wrangler instead of your Liberty". and she agreed. So we live in a college town of Michigan State University and a lot of college kids drive Jeeps. So on the way to the game a Wrangler pulls up next to us in the turn lane and they (she) was there long enough to do the automatic wave (I have noticed Wrangler, CJ, YJ & TJ owners do on the road all the time) and this cute little blonde with a baseball cap on waves at "US" and smiles then takes off. My wife immediately says, "Do you know her" and I said, "Of course not, all Jeep owners wave at each other". Her comment was, "Yeah, right"

Well, it just so happens that we pulled up along side another YJ about 10 minutes later and there was another girl in that one. I looked over and waved and she didn't wave back. Of course the wife had to see this and you can only guess how the night went after that. Actually it wasn't too bad, for the first time I was able to watch the hockey game instead of explaining every call to my wife!

If it won't budge, get a bigger hammer, if it breaks in the process it needed to be fixed anyway.

Hmmm, that gives me ideas! As long as you can get past the issue after the game, what a perfect time for the silent treatment! Thanks!

I was expecting something about transmissions. I've noticed that jeep owners with automatics will give a right hand wave and jeep owners with manuals will give a left hand wave or a right hand salute. at least 90% of the time. Curse my 3 speed automatic. I WANT OVERDRIVE!

My girlfriend likes to remind me that her ex (who had a YJ) never missed a wave and that sometimes I don't wave if I'm not paying attention or its raining

I would point out that my ex never missed a chance to give road head

That should learn her not to talk about ex's

That is the single best reply I have ever seen on this board...

Is that the girl driving the dark green Sahara YJ? I've seen so many Jeeps around here and she's the only one to give me a wave (inluding like four Rubicons and Sahara rolling on 35's). It's kind of sad really.... Anyway, if you ever see a lifted Dark Green Rubicon around, give me a wave, it always makes me feel good that at least someone else is trying to keep the tradition alive.

Not to derail, but I've never waved at anyone next to me. Perhaps a hello nod, but thats more of the awkward "damn they caught me looking" nod. I wave at oncoming Jeeps, but only if they're in the imidiate next lane. Maybe it's just me.

and I'm a left hand waver.
