trailer tire q's??

just bought a popup camper and it needs new tires, dryrotted. the ones on there are 5.30-12 load range C and max of 80psi. can/or should i go up to a load range D max psi 105psi? or will it be too bouncy and rough with that much pressure? i just figured i'd go up cuz of the higher weight rating. 1045 vs 1220/tire. the camper weighs 1500lbs.

I don't think you would need to actually put 80 or 105 psi in the tires. That's just the max pressure the tire is rated for. My little boat trailer has 4.8x12 with 60 psi max, I run 'em at 50 psi (cold) and they seem fine. I'd probably just stick with the 5.3x12's and run 'em at 60psi. Then take it out and see how it handles and check for excess tire heat. If it handles fine and the tires are relatively cool your good.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

PS: Check the hubs, if the tires are shot chances are the previous owner didn't grease the hubs either.

Chances are the C rating will be more than sufficient. Unless you plan to add a half ton of gear to your rig.
What are you using for a tow rig? Does the trailer have brakes? Common sense rules the day when towing!!
